UP member hacked to death in Narail

NARAIL, July 24 (UNB): A Union Parishad (UP) member has been hacked to death by unidentified assailants while returning home from a local market in Kalia upazila of Narail.
The deceased is Md Moni Mia Sheikh (45), a member from ward No. 1 of Jaynagor Union Parishad and a resident of Char Jaynagor village.
According to police and locals, around 11:30 pm on Thursday, Moni Mia was returning home after shopping at Puthimari Bazar when a group of assailants attacked him with sharp weapons in front of the house of Kamrul Thakur in Panipara village under Naragati Police Station.
The attackers indiscriminately hacked him and fled the scene.
Locals rescued Moni Mia and took him to Kalia Upazila Health Complex.
