UP member held over rape bid in C'nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, June 08 (UNB): A union parishad member was arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly trying to rape a nine-year-old girl in the district's Sadar upazila.
The arrestee has been booked for rape bid, said Mozaffor Hossain, officer-in-charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar police station.
In her complaint, the girl's mother claimed that the accused forcibly took away her daughter's bicycle while she was going to school on Tuesday.
"My daughter followed him to his house to get back her cycle. Finding her alone, he tried to rape my daughter," she told cops.
