UP member held with arms, ammo in Ctg

Members of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a Union Parisad (UP) member with huge arms and ammunitions including one AK-22 rifle, three light guns, three magazines and nine rounds from Chankhola village of Auochia area under Satkhania upazila of Chittagong Monday night.
The arrested men were identified as Mahmudul Hoque, 40, a UP member of Auochia union under Satkhania upazila of the district, a BSS report said.
CID said on secret information, a team of CID member launched a drive at a residence of Mahmudul Hoque at Chankhola village of Auochia union under Satkhania upazila of the district on Monday evening and arrested him in connection with a murder case.
The arrested person confessed to the CID men as he had a huge arms and ammunition that hidden into a pond beside his residence.
According to his confession CID recovered one AK 22 rifle, three light guns, three Magazine, three knives and nine round bullets from a pond at Chankhola village of Auochia union under Satkhania upazila of the district on Monday night.
The arrested persons confessed to CID men that they were involved various criminal activities including murder and extortion at different places in the upazila.
A case was filed with Satkhania Police Station in this connection.
