UP member jailed for taking Yaba in Chandpur

A mobile court in Chandpur district on Sunday sentenced a union parishad member to six months' imprisonment for taking Yaba tablets in Hajiganj upazila of the district. The convict was identified as Soleman Miji, 42, member of ward no 7 of Sadar upazila and son of late Rahman Miji of the area. Shah Alam, officer-in-charge of Hajiganj Police Station said a police team arrested Soleman from Bakila rail crossing area in the upazila in the dead of night while he was taking Yaba tablets. Later, the arrestee was produced before the court of executive magistrate Murshidul Islam who handed downed the verdict, according to a news agency.
