UP poll postponed in a Bhola centre

BHOLA, Mar 29 (UNB): Polling was stopped at a polling centre at West Bhaduria Ward No 9 in Bhaduria union in Sadar Upazila after clashes and incidents of ballot box snatching Tuesday. Voting at West Bhaduria M Hossain Registered Primary School polling centre was suspended after supporters of rival candidates locked in series of clashes, snatched ballot boxes injuring police and Ansars at 9am. Returning officer cancelled voting at the centre at 9:30am. Six people were caught and instantly punished by the Judicial Magistrate. The arrested are: member candidates of Bhaduria union parishad Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Patwari, Mohammad Lokman Patwari, Mohammad Sadek and supporters of member candidates Manjur Alam, Nure Alam and Mohammad Sumon. They were jailed for different terms on charges of violence.
