Upazila chairman discharged in M\\\'singh

Local government ministry has discharged Zakaria Harun, chairman of Muktagachha Upazila of Mymensingh district. Harun is also general secretary of the upazila unit of BNP. As per Upazila Parisad Act-1998 (amended in 2011), the discharge order was issued following a case filed with the police station on November 24 in 2013. The ministry issued a gazette notification, signed by senior secretary Lutfun Nahar, in this regard on June 30. The letter was handed over to Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Dr Umme Afsari Zahura on Sunday afternoon. UNO Dr Zahura said as per regulations, vice-chairman Golam Shahriar Sharif will take over the responsibilities as 1st panel chairman, according to a news agency.
