UPDF man shot dead, another injured in Khagrachhari

Unknown assailants sprayed bullets on two UPDF men leaving one of them dead on the spot and another injured by bullets in Dighinala upazila in Khagrachhari district on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Sudristi Chakma, 36, an activist of the local unit of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF). The injured was identified as Riddhi Chakma, 33, also a UPDF member. Locals said Sudristi and Riddhi were having tea at a tea stall in Babuchhara area in the upazila in the morning. A group of armed men suddenly appeared in the area around 8:30am and swooped on the duo at the tea stall. The attackers opened fire on the two UPDF men and quickly left the scene before anyone could guess what was going on. Sudristi died on the spot while locals rescued critically injured Riddhi and rushed him to Khagrachhari Adhunik Hospital, according to a news agency.
