US-Bangladesh ties now closer than before: Mozena

US ambassador to Bangladesh Dan W Mozena on Thursday said the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the USA is broader, deeper, closer and stronger than any time before. Dan Mozena said this at a press briefing held at Faridpur circuit house after winding up his five-day extensive visit to five districts of greater Faridpur region that began on August 3. He said the USA is now working closely with Bangladesh for making democracy stronger at the grassroots level and making the local governments more functional through elected representatives. Mozena told reporters that he became very much emotional while visiting the mausoleum of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara in Gopalganj. He thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government for facilitating his visit there. He said the way Bangladesh is moving ahead with its hardworking and resilient people, this country would soon become a middle income one, according to BSS.
