Wednesday, 13 August 2008

A three-member US Congressional staff team will visit Bangladesh from August 19 when they are expected to hold parleys with different stakeholders ahead of general election, reports UNB.

Diplomatic sources told the news agency that the delegation comprises Deputy Staff Director Peter Yeo, Professional Staff Member Brent Woolfork and Manpreet Singh of House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

"They are working for US Congress and coming to know the situation of Bangladesh ahead of general polls," a diplomatic source said.

They are likely to meet advisers, Election Commission officials, politicians and civil-society members during their visit to Bangladesh, where issues of election and state of emergency are on top of all talks.
