US deports 20 Bangladeshi fugitives in 5 yrs

The United States has sent back 20 Bangladeshi fugitives hiding in that country in the past five years. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spokeswoman Nicole Navas told bdnews24.com Thursday that they had been arrested and handed over to the Bangladeshi law enforcement agencies in between Oct 1, 2009 and Mar 19 this year. Three of them were sent back in 2009, 11 in 2010, followed by four next year, one in 2013, and the last one was on Mar 19 this year. Navas also said that 720 fugitives from different other nations were also send back to their countries during the same time. Bangladesh government Thursday formed a high-powered 10-member taskforce, led by Law Minister Anisul Huq, to bring back fugitives, who have fled abroad, to make them stand trial.
