US Deputy Assistant Secretary Robert F Ichord started his four-day Bangladesh trip on Wednesday to discuss issues related to energy sector. During his visit here, Ichord, who serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Energy Resources, will hold meetings and discussions with government officials in the energy sector. During the meetings, he will discuss ways for ensuring energy access by all by 2030, doubling the rate of energy efficiency, and also doubling the share of renewable energy in the total energy generation. Ichord is responsible for promoting the transformation of energy systems to achieve greater efficiency and cleaner performance through use of market forces and innovative financing approaches, according to UNB.
