US embassy phone numbers changed
FE Report | Saturday, 1 November 2014
Telephone numbers of the US embassy in Dhaka have been changed to eight digits from seven digits as part of the transition to new fibre-optic phone lines.
The new phone lines will bring better connectivity, said an embassy press release on Thursday.
The current prefix will change from 885 to 5566. For example, a number that is now 885-5500 x2719 will become 5566-2719. The new embassy switchboard number will not, however, follow this pattern and will simply become 5566-2000. The new phone lines starting with 5566 are already active. The old lines starting with 885 will also remain active.
