US, France slate Ananta murder

The US and France condemned the brutal murder of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das, reports bdnews24.com.
The two countries also called on Bangladesh authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Both Washington and Paris conveyed condolences to his family and friends.
The US state department in a regular press briefing said they expressed the hope that Bangladesh authorities would find and bring the perpetrators to justice.
France urged the authorities to investigate the murder.
"France reiterates its attachment to the freedom of opinion and expression, including online expression," the French embassy in Dhaka said in a statement on Wednesday.
UNB adds: A case was filed against four unidentified people in connection with the killing of blogger Ananta Bijoy Das.
Rateshwar Das, elder brother of Ananta Bijoy, filed the case against the four people with Airport thana on Tuesday night.
Nurul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of the thana, was given the task of investigating the case. Blogger Ananta, also an activist of Sylhet Ganajagaran Mancha, was hacked to death by a group of assailants in broad daylight at Subidbazar Bankalapara in the city on Tuesday morning.
