US, Indian Professors meet DU VC

Director of the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, India Prof M Chakraborty and Fulbright Professor of the School for Marine Science and Technology of University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, USA Dr Avijit Gangopadhyay met Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique at his office Sunday.
Dean of the Faculty of Earth & Environmental Sciences Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal and Chairman of the Department of Oceanography of Dhaka University Prof Dr Md Kawser Ahmed were present on the occasion.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest, especially possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes by the DU Department of Oceanography and the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar, India.
They also stressed on introducing joint collaborative research programmes on various issues, including river management, climate change, protection of the Sundarbans and environment. They also discussed on academic networking, exchange of data and possibilities of exchange of teachers, students and researchers between the two institutions, according to a news agency.
