US official Macon Phillips due Sunday

Saturday, 7 June 2014

The Coordinator of the Bureau of International Information Programs (IIP), US Department of State, Macon Phillips, will arrive in Dhaka on a 4-day visit on Sunday. During his tour, Phillips will visit Edward M Kennedy Center for Public Service and the Arts, one of the Department’s premier American Spaces, to participate in Environmental Day celebrations and entrepreneurship initiatives. He will meet with government officials, civil society leaders and telecommunications experts. The IIP is the State Department’s foreign-facing public diplomacy communications bureau. It provides and supports the places, content, and infrastructure needed for sustained conversations with foreign audiences to build America’s reputation abroad. Macon Phillips assumed the position of Coordinator in September, 2013, and his first role in the Obama Administration was at the White House, as a Special Assistant to the President and Director of Digital Strategy. He will leave Dhaka on June 11, according to a State Department media note.
