US senator keen to strengthen trade ties with Bangladesh

Senator of Michigan State, the USA Hansen Hashim Clarke is keen to strengthen bilateral trade ties between Bangladesh and his country.
This was disclosed while the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) held a meeting with the US senator at a hotel in the city Tuesday, according to a press release.
Chaired by DCCI President Hossain Khaled, the meeting discussed various issues relating to expansion of bilateral trade, increasing the quota-free export facility to Bangladesh's ready-made garments (RMG), boosting the country's export basket, investment in Michigan state and Bangladesh and economic cooperation between the two countries.
In his address of welcome, the DCCI president said the objective of the meeting is to strengthen the bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and the USA.
''Our major aim is to increase RMG export and boosting the country's export basket,'' he added.
Hansen Hashim Clarke, in his speech, stressed the need for enhancing mutual relationship between the two friendly countries.
He said the USA is an open market, every Bangladeshi entrepreneur can therefore do business in Michigan state and by doing this they can earn more US currency.
