US slams BNP leader's 'death threat' to PM

The United States has condemned the Rajshahi BNP leader's public 'death threat' against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, noting that they stand firmly against any attempts to incite violence, reports UNB.
"The US Embassy condemns the use of any inflammatory language, intimidation, or threats of violence," Sean J McIntosh, counselor for Public Affairs at the US Embassy in Dhaka told the news agency on Tuesday.
The US comment came when asked whether the US is condemning such threat by the opposition leader.
"Political stability, peaceful coexistence, and respect for democratic principles are vital for any society to flourish," said the official at the US Embassy.
The United States is committed to supporting Bangladesh in its pursuit of a stable, prosperous, and democratic future, said McIntosh.
