US stocks fall on weak earnings
Friday, 25 April 2014
US stocks Friday opened lower following some disappointing earnings reports and as investors kept an eye on rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine. Five minutes into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 68.52 (0.42 percent) to 16,433.13. The broad-based S&P 500 declined 7.13 (0.38 percent) to 1,871.48, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index lost 29.08 (0.70 percent) at 4,119.26. The batch of earnings reports since the market closed Thursday were weak. Amazon and Ford Motor both missed expectations, while Visa gave a disappointing forecast, according to AFP.
