Tuesday, 24 June 2014

US stocks on Monday were little changed in early trade following mixed economic data as markets kept an eye on the growing Iraq crisis. About 30 minutes into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 15.51 points (0.09 per cent) to 16,931.57. The broad-based S&P 500 edged up 0.35 (0.02 per cent) to 1,963.22, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index added 2.93 (0.07 per cent) at 4,370.97. HSBC’s preliminary purchasing managers index (PMI) for China, which tracks activity in factories and workshops in the world’s second-biggest economy, came in at 50.8 in June, the highest level since November, according to AFP.
