US team calls on DU VC

A team of five universities of United States of America (USA) called on Dhaka University (DU) vice chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique at latter's office Sunday, reports UNB.
Director of the School of Social Work, Southern Illinois University Carbondale Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman Miah led the team.
The US universities include Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Case Western Reserve University, University of Nevada Reno, Spelman College, Atlanta and Wayne State University, Detroit.
During the meeting, they discussed matters of academic interest of the DU and different issues of socio-economic development in Bangladesh.
The DV VC apprised them of the history of the DU since its inception and its academic and other activities and the history of our liberation war and language movement in brief.
He also apprised them of education system in Bangladesh and answered different questions of the students of the US team.
Dr Siddique thanked the team for their visit to DU and showing their keen interest in its academic activities.
The US team is now on a visit to Bangladesh under 'Study Abroad Programme 2011-12' of Southern Illinois University Carbondale in collaboration with Case Western Reserve University.
