US to review violence for visa curbs

The United States (US) government has condemned Saturday's political violence between police and activists centring on the rallies of the major political parties of Bangladesh.
In a statement, the US administration also called for calm and restraint on all sides.
The US Embassy in Dhaka in a statement said: "The United States condemns the political violence that took place in Dhaka on October 28."
The reported killing of a police officer, a political activist, and the burning of a hospital are unacceptable. It is violence against civilians, including journalists, it said.
"We will be reviewing all violent incidents for possible visa restrictions," it said.
