US trying to stifle UN climate summit
Tuesday, 17 November 2009
THE rich countries, historically responsible for CO2 pollution, are trying to subvert the Copenhagen UN Conference on Climate Change, scheduled for December.
An avaricious US Congress, together with extremely powerful "dirty energy" and military lobbies, may succeed in foiling the Conference to bring the poorest countries to the brink of climatic catastrophe.
The US military spends at least 42 per cent of the world's military expenditure. Probably more, if the covert military expenditures of the US are taken into account.
This also contributes to global warming. The developing countries should get together to oppose the mockery.
