NEW YORK, Sept 29 (UNB): A delegation of the USA branch of Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Christian Unity Council, led by its President Ratan Barua, met Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed at his hotel suite here Friday.
The delegation apprised the Chief Adviser about their activities and put forward a set of demands, including relocation of Ramna Kali Mandir and release of arrested Prof Nimchandra Bhowmik.
The Chief Adviser gave them a patient hearing and assured them that he would look into their genuine grievances.
He pointed out that nobody is above law in Bangladesh and everybody would get access to due process of law to prove his innocence.
Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed said there is perfect communal harmony in Bangladesh and this has been reflected in recent times through celebration of religious festivals like Jonmastomi in congenial and festive atmosphere.
A National Human Rights Commission would be established soon, where all citizens would be able to place their genuine grievances for remedial actions, the Chief Adviser added.
