Use of chemicals in foods causes deadly diseases

Speakers at a workshop Saturday underscored the need for creating awareness among the people about harmful effects of the use of chemical in food products.
"Use of harmful chemicals in food products can cause deadly diseases like cancer and reduce birth fertility" they said.
They made this comment at the inaugural ceremony of a four-day workshop on "Safe Laboratory Practices" at Mukarram building of the Dhaka University (DU).
DU Vice Chancellor, AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the workshop as chief guest while M Muhibur Rahman, Chairman of ICCTB and President of Bangladesh Chemical Society, presided over the function.
Bangladesh Society for Pharmaceutical Professionals (BSPP) and Institute of Chemists and Chemical Technologists Bangladesh (ICCTB) jointly organised the programme.
Some 33 representatives from different universities, industries and research institutions, among others, attended the workshop.
