Use of helicopters for state functions
Thursday, 30 July 2015
It is needless to say that Dhaka is a city of unbearable traffic jam. People have to waste their valuable time on their way to either office, court or for business purposes in the capital city, now one of the world's most populous cities. Traffic jam occurs if a foreign dignitary or President or Prime Minister of a country moves on the city roads. Similarly, there is a severe traffic congestion if an accident occurs and the gridlock lasts for several hours.
The President or Prime Minister has to move to different places of the city for various official jobs. Most of the roads leading to their destinations are blocked causing immense trouble for the commuters or the pedestrians. On completion of their jobs, the VIPs leave the venues and the roads are reopened for public. As a result, people have to stay put inside vehicles for hours together as the gridlock that is created on the roads continues.
Under the circumstances, I would request our President and Prime Minister to use helicopters on their way to respective venues and city-dwellers will be able to move freely and avoid traffic jam.
