Use of latest agro-techs stressed for increasing production

RANGPUR, June 30 (BSS): Experts at a farmers' gathering here today said that proper dissemination of knowledge about the latest agro-technologies and machinery to the farmers would further boost production in the agriculture sector.
They also said that expanded use of the available technologies and agro-machinery would definitely reduce production costs of all varieties of crops and improve soil fertility and health to benefit the farmers, ecology, bio- diversity and environment.
Department of Agriculture extension (DAE) organised the gathering on 'Increasing Agro-production through expansion of agriculture engineering technology and creating job opportunities for the rural people' at village Monthona Belbari under Sadar Upazila.
A total of 100 male and female farmers of the area took part in the gathering to get practical knowledge on the latest agro-technologies including the integrated pest management (IPM) methods of pest management from the experts of the DAE.
Chaired by Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Delbar Hossain, the gathering was attended by Deputy Director of DAE Kamal Shariful Alam as the chief guest.
Agriculture Extension Officer Saiful Islam, Agriculture Engineer Emran Hossain, Sub-assistant Agriculture Officer Abdul Latif, farmer Abdul Motaleb Sarker spoke on the occasion.
The DAE experts narrated the latest technologies including selection of quality seeds, fertiliser and irrigation managements, properly taking care of the growing crop fields and IPM methods of pest management.
