Use of modern technology in business stressed

Sate Minister for Science and Information and Communication Technology Architect Yeafesh Osman Sunday laid emphasis on using modern technology in the field of business considering the changing global scenario.
"We must adopt modern technology in the field of business to cope with the present demand of the world," he said as the chief guest at a dialogue in the capital.
Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) organsied the Public- Private Dialogue (PPD) on "Effective Interaction between Scientists and Entrepreneurs" at the chamber building.
President of DCCI Mr Asif Ibrahim delivered the address of welcome.
Member (Finance) of BCSIR Mr Mesbah Uddin and former director of DCCI Mr Nessar Maksud Khan presented two separate key note papers. Senior vice president of DCCI Mr TIM Nurul Kabir offered vote of thanks.
The entrepreneurs complained that they were not getting adequate cooperation from the BCSIR officials which is important for their businesses.
The state minister urged the entrepreneurs and scientists not to blame each other. He said that BCSIR will provide all cooperation to the entrepreneurs.
"Your (entrepreneurs) door is open to BCSIR and my ministry," he mentioned.
"I called upon young generation to come forward, and engage themselves in innovative work to digitise the country by 2021," he said.
Chairman of BCSIR Prof Ahmad Ismail Mustafa called upon the entrepreneurs to take 'process lease' invented by BCSIR and its world class services (ISOIEC 17025) to expand and flourish country's industries.
Meshab Uddin said "Research can be for innovation, research can be for reverse engineering too. We need business and research to go hand in hand," he said
Chairman of Bangladesh Nim Foundation Dr MA Hakim said the BCSIR could share experiences from other countries.
Former vice-president of DCCI Toufiq Ali said bureaucratic tangle should not obstruct scientific innovation and more interaction was needed between BCSIR and entrepreneurs for the sake of business.
Mr Asif Ibrahim said science and technology play an important role in economic and social development of a country.
"Business is the life blood of our economy. Our economy has been integrated with the global economy. We can't remain aloof from the world system and depend on others fully as consumers only. We should also share a good pie of the innovation," he mentioned.
