Use of Teletalk SIMs in illegal VoIP detected

A probe by the country's telecom regulator has detected the 'abnormal' use of a good number of Teletalk SIMs (Subscribers Identification Module) in illegal VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) business.  
Bangladesh Telecommu-nication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) unearthed the use in its recent drives against illegal VoIP business, sources concerned said.
During the drives, BTRC officials found use of around 30 million minutes of illegal VoIP through 0.45 million of Teletalk SIMs a day, causing a significant amount of financial loss to the public exchequer.
The latest detection of using Teletalk SIMs in illegal VoIP came as a surprise to both market operators and telecom experts in the wake of the government's ongoing drives against the illegal business.
When asked, the BTRC officials acknowledged the recent drives against illegal VoIP operations, but they did not go into details about their findings.   
Preferring anonymity, a BTRC official, however, said they found 'abnormal' use of Teletalk SIMs in incoming overseas calls.
