Usha KC set final with MSC in Club Cup Hockey

Usha KC set the final clash with Mohammedan SC in the Dhaka Bank Club Cup Hockey when they came from behind to beat Abahani Limited by 5-2 goals in the 2nd semifinal at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
The final of the competition will be held Friday at the same venue at 3 pm.
In the day's match, Krishna Kumar struck twice while Maksud Alam Habul, Mostafizur Rahman and substitute Hedayetul Islam scored one goal apiece for the winners. Jamil Bin Talib and Hasan Jubayer Niloy netted one goal each for the losers.
The match was locked 2-2 during the first half.
Abahani Limited took early lead converting a penalty corner in the 15th minute. Jamil, after receiving a pass from Abdullah Al Mansur, sent the ball home with a close range hit, giving no chance to Usha custodian Mahbub Ullah Chowdhury (1-0).
Two minutes later Niloy doubled the Abahani margin scoring a field goal with a powerful hit off a close pass from Nahid Chowdhury (2-0).
Usha KC, which played attacking hockey during the entire match, took a little time to level the margin. Skipper Habul pulled one back for Usha KC in the 20th minute with a field goal (2-1) while Krishna Kumar restored parity for Usha, also with a field goal in the 29th minute (2-2).
After the breather, Mostafiz put Usha KC ahead converting a penalty corner in the 42nd minute as he gently hit the ball giving no chance to Abahani custodian Monwar Hossain Russell (3-2).
Krishna Kumar widened the margin scoring his 2nd goal and 4th for Usha KC in the 65th minute with a field goal (4-2) while Hedayetul completed the winners' tally also with a field goal three minutes before the final whistle.
Usha KC, clearly dominated the entire proceedings, especially in the 2nd half, and notched the deserving victory while Abahani Limited failed to produce any real attack except the two early goals.
Earlier, on Monday, Mohammedan SC booked their final berth crushing Sonali Bank by 8-1 goals in the 1st semifinal at the same venue.
