Using public money efficiently and effectively
Tuesday, 5 January 2010
PRIME Minister Sheikh Hasina the other day inaugurated five fly-overs in Chittagong. It is a gigantic programme which will cost a huge amount of money. Obviously it will be public money.
All concerned should be aware of the cost of such fly-overs and also appropriate steps should be taken to ensure their efficient use. This is more so when the functionaries of the government do not hesitate to remind everyone about the pains it (government) has to endure for mobilising public funds and allocating them for different social sectors. The teachers were thus reminded a few days ago about the costs of public money when some amount of research money was given to some of them.
People would expect to see some positive changes in all the areas where public money in large amounts are spent.
