FE Special
DECEMBER is the month when most of the schools enjoy vacation since the annual examination is over. Students are free from their routine classes, they enjoy completely free time. December is their own month-no activity of going to school, no preparation of homework, not being tensed about exam. What could be the best means of spending such a vacation month? Students have various options-they can go for visiting their native villages, they can go on travel, they can read books, they can learn sports or learn exercise, can take part in music classes, can learn meditation and so on.
Visiting native village can be a very good choice during this free time. Village is the root where many of the urban students come from. Young students can enjoy the scenic beauty of the village, can mix with the villagers, can learn about how they live. Such a visit will create a strong bondage between the urban and the rural community in the country which is very much lacking these days.
Students can travel during this month of December and till their classes begin during the next year. There are many tourist and historical places like Cox's Bazar, Sylhet, Mahangar in Bogra, Moynmati in Comilla, Rangamati, Kuatakat which can be visited. Those who cannot afford to visit such places can go to nearby places and thus enjoy the beauty of the nature.
This month is the best for reading books since students rarely get time to read books during other months of the year thanks to academic pressure. They can become members of 'Bishawa Sahitay Kendro', they can visit public libraries. If there is no library around them, they can build up a library of their own with the efforts of some friends and can read books this way.
Students can learn varieties of sports or learn exercise during this month of December. In this way they will be confident about sports and their physical fitness. This will be also a valuable 'investment' for their health.
Students can attend music classes. They can explore their latent talents.
Meditation has been popular in Bangladesh in recent years. There are some institutions which teach meditation. They can go to one of such institutions -Quantum Foundation for Quantum method or ISOMETRIC for Silva Method. Learning meditation will help them succeed in studies, and reach goals in life.
If students can utilise December properly, they can begin the next year with new vigour.
