Uttar Baridhara promoted to division I soccer

Uttar Baridhara Club gained promotion to First Division Football League as unbeaten champions of the Metropolis Second Division Football League beating Sadharan Bima KS by 3-1 goals at the Bir Shreshtho Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium at Kamalapur in the city Saturday, reports UNB.
Shapla Miah, Mahbubur Rahman and Dulal Hossain scored one goal each for the winners while Mohammad Zafar netted the lone goal for the losers.
With the day's feat in the last league match, Uttar Baridhara Club clinched the top slot comfortably securing 42 points, while Motijheel T&T Club finished distant runners-up with 36 points, both playing 16 matches.
Both the champions and runners-up teams have earned the right to play in the First Division League from next season.
In the day's other match, East End Club defeated Dhanmondi Club, also 3-1, at the same venue.
Ismail Hossain struck twice and Habibur Rahman Biplob scored one goal for East End Club while Mizanur Rahman Riyad netted the only goal for Dhanmondi Club.
East End Club secured 31 points and Dhanmondi Club 14 points from 16 matches.
