Uttara EPZ flourishing with growth in export

NILPHAMARI, Feb 7: Uttara EPZ, situated in the northern region of the country in Nilphamari district, is flourishing rapidly. Both investment and export in the EPZ has increased substantially. The EPZ sources said total investment in the first half of the current financial year reached 10.70 million US dollar.
The amount was invested by three separate enterprises for which employment opportunity has been created for nearly 2000 youths of the region. On the other hand, during the same period of the first half of the current financial year the EPZ exported goods of a total of 32.22 million dollar.
Sources said at present 11 enterprises are in operation in the EPZ and nearly 15000 employees are working there out of which 80per cent are women.
The EPZ alone contributing substantially to overcome poverty situation by employing thousands youths of the district.
