Uzbekistan entrepreneurs show interest to invest in B’desh

Uzbekistan's entrepreneurs have expressed their interest to invest in Bangladesh's garment and textile sector. They also showed their interest to export fabrics and accessories to Bangladesh.
The observations came when a visiting Uzbekistan delegation, led by its first Deputy Minister of Economy Mubin Mirzaev, called on the leaders of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at its headquarters in the capital on Saturday.
The delegation included Bunyod Rajabov, head of department at the ministry of economy, Zokhid Khaydarov head of department at the ministry of finance, Faxriddin Kaimbaev, head of department at the ministry of foreign trade, Mukhammadjon Jumaniyazov, head of department of Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Association, and Jamshed Urakov vice chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
BGMEA President Md Siddiqur Rahman, vice presidents Mahmud Hasan Khan and Mohammed Nasir, directors Md Ashiqur Rahman, Munir Hossain and Atiqul Karim Khan were present in the meeting, among others.
The BGMEA made a presentation explaining the Bangladesh readymade garment (RMG) sector's contribution to the country's economy to the delegation, according to a statement issued by the apex trade body of the apparel sector.
The delegation also urged Bangladesh's apparel makers to invest in setting up RMG factories in Uzbekistan, offering that if the Bangladeshi businesses make investment there, they will get land free of cost, electricity and gas connections at cheaper price, and lower rate.
BGMEA chief Siddiqur Rahman requested the delegation to invest in the country's RMG sector saying that Bangladesh has a ready market for textile industry.
The meeting also decided that the discussion will continue and both the businesses will explore the business potentialities.
