V-Day programmes announced

The government has taken elaborate programmes to celebrate the 41st Victory Day in a befitting manner and enthusiasm on December 16, reports BSS.
The day marking the nation's ultimate victory on December 16 in 1971 after a nine-month bloody War of Liberation will be celebrated all over Bangladesh and the country's missions abroad by paying glowing tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for relentlessly leading a struggle towards the country's independence.
The day's programme beginning with 31st gun salute will be heralded in the early morning.
President M Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay tributes to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing wreaths at the National Memorial at Savar early in the morning. They will be followed by freedom fighters, foreign diplomats and people from all walks of life, an official handout said today.
As part of the day's programmes, a colourful parade will be held at the National Parade Square on the day. Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force, BNCC, BGB, police, RAB, Ansar-VDP, Coast Guard, jail keepers and Fire Service and Civil Defence will take part in the parade.
