Valuables worth Tk 0.7m looted from Satkhira house

Robbers looted valuables worth Tk 0.7 million beating up the inmates of a house at Khalishkhali village at Patkelghata Upaizla of Satkhira district on Friday. Locals said a gang of 25/30 robbers stormed the house of Mazharul Islam and kept the inmates hostage at gunpoint around 2.00am. Resisted, the bandits mercilessly beat three inmates of the house, including Mazharul, leaving them critically injured. They looted valuables including cash and 10 tolas of gold ornaments worth Tk 0.7 million and decamped with booty. Injured Mazharul, 42, his younger brother Baharul Islam, 38, and Baharul’s wife Mahmuda Begum, 35, were rescued and rushed to Satkhira Sadar Hospital in the morning, according to a news agency.
