Valuables worth Tk 1m looted from expat\\\'s house

Robbers looted valuables worth Tk 1 million from an expatriate’s house in Jakiganj upazila in Sylhet on Monday. Locals said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 10-12, stormed the house of Abdus Sobhan, Saudi Arabia expatriate, at Muhidpur village at night by breaking open the door and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint. They looted 13 tolas of gold ornament, cash Tk 50,000, four mobile phone sets and other valuable items. The robbers opened fire at Sobhan as he tried to resist them, leaving him injured by bullets. The bandits left the house with booty. Jamshed Alam, officer-in-charge of Jakiganj Police Station, confirmed the incident, according to UNB.
