Vaughan, Bell press for recall
Friday, 10 April 2009
Michael Vaughan and Ian Bell will aim to take their first steps towards a possible England recall when they play for the MCC against Durham at Lord's, reports BBC.
Thursday's traditional curtain-raiser against the county champions sees two of England's contenders to bat at three trying to stake an early Ashes claim.
Owais Shah replaced Bell for the last three Tests in the West Indies.
But Shah is playing in the Indian Premier League in the run-up to the first Test of the summer on 6 May.
Bell and Vaughan, along with paceman Stephen Harmison, have been made available for all cricket ahead of the first Test against the West Indies at Lord's by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
That means Bell, who lost his England place in all forms of the game in the Caribbean, will have two County Championship games and a pair of Friends Provident Trophy matches to find form before the first Test.
