Vehicles carrying excessive loads damage roads: Quader

RANGPUR, Dec 26 (BSS): Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said today the vehicles carrying excessive loads and reckless driving have been largely damaging the roads and highways across the country.
He said load control centres are being set up on all of the highways in the country and development works of 37 accident-prone roads are being conducted to reduce the extent of road accidents.
Obaidul Quader said this while launching the Singpara Excel Load Control Centre of the Roads and Highways Department on the Tentulia-Dhaka highway under Sadar upazila in Panchagarh district today as the chief guest.
Obaidul Quader said the BNP is a political party having democratic right to launch movement.
He, however, said if the BNP creates destructive activities and unleases terrorism and anarchy in the name of movement, the government would politically face those.
Member of the Parliament (MP) and President of Panchagarh district Awami League (AL) Nurul Islam Shujan, its General Secretary and former AL Lawmaker Mozaharul Haque Pradhan, Peoples' Perspective Expert of the Prime Minister's Office Naimuzzaman Mukta, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salah Uddin and Police Super Abul Kalam Azad, were present.
