Verdict on Hasan Ali today

Tuesday, 9 June 2015

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) is set to deliver its verdict in the war crimes cases against Syed M Hachen alias Hasan Ali of Kishoreganj, who is being tried in absentia, on Tuesday, reports UNB.
The three-member tribunal, headed by Justice M Enayetur Rahim, on Monday fixed the date for the verdict.
Earlier on April 20, closing the law-point arguments from both sides in the trial of the 1971 war crimes accused Mr Ali, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 kept the verdict pending for any day.
It will be the 18th judgment of the tribunal.
On November 11 in 2014, the tribunal indicted Mr Ali for his involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
After fulfilling the requirement of law for the trial of a fugitive accused, the tribunal on September 15 took cognisance of the charges brought against war crimes accused Mr Ali who remained absconding since the filing of the case.
Meanwhile, Advocate Abdus Salam Khan, counsel for Forkan Mallik, alleged razkar leader from Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali, placed on Monday arguments for his client for the second day, reports UNB.
Justice Obaidul Hassan, chairman of the three-member panel of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2, adjourned the hearing until June 14, as the defence failed to conclude their part of arguments.
Earlier on June 1, prosecutor Mukhlesur Rahman Badal concluded his arguments against the accused and pleaded for maximum punishment for Mr Mallik.
A total of 14 prosecution witnesses, including the investigation officer, testified against him.
