Verdict to be executed soon: Law minister

Jammat-e-Islami chief Matiur Rahman Nizami's war crimes verdict will be implemented quickly once it is upheld by the appeals court, Law Minister Anisul Huq has said. The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 sentenced Nizami to hang till death on Wednesday, nearly a year after the war crimes case was wrapped up. ‘On a personal note, I am satisfied with the tribunal’s verdict. The government is satisfied as well. We accept the verdict and measures will be taken to implement it fast. What we will now do is to hold the appeal hearing quickly to uphold the verdict and implement it,’ said Huq, according to bdnews24.com.
