Veteran journo Musa no more

Veteran journalist ABM Musa, a close aide of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, passed away at a city hospital on Wednesday. He was 83, report agencies.
Family sources said Musa, who had been receiving treatment at Labaid hospital for old-age complications since January this year, breathed his last at 1:15 pm.
The renowned journalist had been on life support at the hospital since Monday night.
ABM Musa left behind wife, three daughters, a son and hosts of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His first namaz-e-janaza was held at Iqbal Road ground at Mohammadpur after Magrib prayers, and then his body was kept at Labaid mortuary at night.
Today (Thursday), his body will be brought to the National Press Club at 12pm where his colleagues will pay their tributes by placing wreaths on his coffin. His second namaz-e-janaza will be held there after Johr prayers. Later, his body will be taken to Jatiya Sangsad plaza where his third namaz-e-janaza will take place.
Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of the veteran journalist. In a condolence message, the President recalled the colourful professional life of ABM Musa and termed him a glittering star of the country's journalism.
In a separate message, Hasina said late ABM Musa in his long journalism career had been a witness to many historical incidents and he would ever be remembered for his contributions to his profession.
They also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the family members.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, deputy speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Miah and chief whip of the parliament ASM Feroz also issued separate messages expressing their deep shock at his death.
Born at Dharmapur village in Feni in 1931, Musa was the founder member of the National Press Club.
He contributed to different fields of journalism during his 64 years of professional life. ABM Musa received many awards, including the Ekushey Padak.
He will be buried at their family graveyard in Feni district.
