Victory Day Boxing meet begins today

The MARCEL Television Victory Day Boxing competition begins today (Wednesday) at the Mohammad Ali Boxing Stadium in the city, reports BSS.
Agrani Bank Ltd Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Syed Abdul Hamid will formally inaugurate the two-day meet as the chief guest at 11:00 am.
The competition will be held in 23 weight categories under five groups.
The groups are (junior group boys under-16) 25, 32, 38,42, 46 and 49 kgs, (intermediate group under-18 group) 45, 48, 52, 54, 56 and 60 kgs, (junior women's group under-16 year) 38, 42 and 45 kgs, (women's senior minimum 18-year) 49 and 56 kgs and (senior men's under-34 year) 49, 56, 60, 64, 69 and 75 kgs.
Some 110 male boxers and 25 female boxers are expected to take part in the competition, sponsored by RB Group.
In this regard, a press conference was held Tuesday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium to give all the details of the meet.
RB Group Additional Director head of games and sports FM Iqbal Bin Anwar, Amateur Boxing Federation senior vice president SM Alam and general secretary SM Quddus Khan were, among others, present on the occasion.
Participating teams: Services teams (Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Ansar), Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan, Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation, Bangladesh Railway, Dhaka District Sports Association and five recognised boxing clubs.
