Victory Day programmes in districts

Rajshahi University, Dec 13 (BSS): Rajshahi University authorities have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the Victory Day-2010 here in a befitting manner.
The victory day's programme at Rajshahi University (RU) campus will begin with placing of wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar by the university Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan at the moment of sunshine.
RU pro vice-chancellor Prof Muhammad Nurullah, teachers and high officials of the university will present there. Rajshahi University Teachers' Association (RUTA), Rajshahi University Journalist Association, Progressive Teachers Society and several cultural and political organisations and hall authorities also will place wreathes at the Shaheed Minar.
RU VC and others university high officials also will place floral wreath at the mass grave of the university.
National flag will be hoisted atop the administrative building, library, VC's house and all the residential halls and important points on campus to mark the day.

Authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have chalked out a comprehensive daylong programme to celebrate the Victory Day-2010 with due respect and in a befitting manner.
The programme will include hoisting of national flag atop the administrative buildings and residential halls of JU, placing of wreaths at the national memorial by JU vice-chancellor, Jahangirnagar University Teachers' Association (JUTA), JU Journalists' Association (JUJA), officers' association, employee association and union.
In celebration of the day, a Vice Chancellor's Cup Handball tournament will be held at the central playground of JU at 9 am for the female students only while Chancellor's Cup Football Tournament will be held at 10 am.
Faridpur
Brisk preparations are afoot in the district to observe the Victory Day on December 16.
Faridpur District Administration has chalked out an elaborate programme to observe the day in a befitting manner.
The programme of the day includes 31 gun-salutes before sun-rise, hoisting of national flag atop all public and private buildings, placing of floral wreaths at Goalchamat Martyred Memorial Plaque in the town, victory rally and placing of floral wreaths at the mass grave located inside the stadium.
Besides, march-past and rally by the police, ansar, VDP and students of different institutions will be held at the stadium. Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur will hoist the ceremonial flag at march-past function.
A reception has been arranged in honour of the martyrs' families of the Liberation War at local Kabi Jasimuddin Hall in the morning. Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples and churches for welfare and prosperity of the country.
