Vietnam delegation deplores low trade with Bangladesh

CHITTAGONG, Nov 06: Visiting Vietnamese delegation leader said Bangladesh and Vietnam have similarities in the field of economy as the two countries belong to the developing world. But the trade volume between the two countries has not increased up to the desired level.
The 5-member delegation of Vietnam had an opinion-sharing meeting with the members of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) Tuesday.
Vietnam Economist Association Vice President Dao Nuen Cat led the visiting delegation while CCCI President Saiffuzzaman Chowdhury presided over the meeting held at the Chamber House auditorium in the city.
CCCI President Saiffuzzaman said that after the establishment of diplomatic relation between Bangladesh and Vietnam, bilateral trade has not been increased upto the desired level despite repeated efforts made for developing the same.
He called upon the visiting delegation to undertake the initiatives for expanding co-operation under the private sector of the two countries.
In this connection, Dao Nuen called for exchanging delegation of information and trade.
The opinion sharing meeting was attended among others by CCCI directors Syed Ahsanul Hoque, Mahfuzul Haque Shah, Nasiruddin Chowdhury, officials of Vietnam commerce ministry and senior officials of the embassy of Vietnam.
