Vietnam earns more from rice export in 10 months

HANOI, Nov. 5 (Xinhua): Vietnam earned nearly 1.4 billion U.S. dollars from shipping rice abroad in the first 10 months of this year, posting a year-on- year rise of 12.7 per cent, despite lower export volume.
Between January and October, Vietnam, the world's second largest rice exporter, sold overseas nearly 4.3 million tons of rice, down 4 per cent over the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office today.
Vietnam's paddy rice output is estimated at 35.9 million tons this year, equaling to last year, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
