HANOI, Sept 13 (Xinhua): Vietnam reaped footwear export revenues of over 2.7 billion US dollars in the first eight months of this year, up 14.3 per cent against the same period last year.
In August alone, the country earned 390 million dollars from exporting the products, mainly to the European Union, the United States and Japan, according to sources from the Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association (Lefaso) yesterday.
Vietnam is likely to make footwear export earnings of 3.9- 4.1 billion dollars in 2007, up from nearly 3.6 billion dollars in 2006.
To this end, the Lefaso is encouraging footwear producers in Vietnam to diversify products, and produce more sport and cloth shoes, and slippers.
