Vietnam to see rise in int\\\'l tourists

HANOI, May 27 (Xinhua): Vietnam is expected to receive some 3. 748 million international tourists in the first five months of 2014, up 26.07 per cent, while sees a downturn in May year-on-year, said Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) on Tuesday.
Up to now, Vietnam has fulfilled 46.85 per cent of its set target to welcome eight million foreign tourists in 2014, said a report on the official website of VNAT.
In May alone, Vietnam is forecast to receive 674,204 international tourists, down 9.62 per cent over the previous month but up 20.66 per cent year-on-year.
Vietnam witnesses growth in most of its tourism markets in the first five months, including China's Hong Kong, Germany, and China, among others with an increase of 179.69 per cent, 119.69 per cent and 43.39 per cent year-on-year respectively, said the report.
However, in May, decrease is seen in most of Vietnamese markets in compared with April.
In May, riots against foreign companies hit the southern and central Vietnam.
In January-May period, the number of domestic tourists is expected to post 20.4 million person-times, up 6.7 per cent year-on- year.
