Vietnam's farm export surges last year

HANOI, Jan 3 (Xinhua): Vietnam earned 12.6 billion US dollars from exporting agricultural products in 2007, up 20 per cent over 2006, according to local newspaper Vietnam Economic Times yesterday.
Last year, the country gained nearly 3.8 billion dollars from exporting seafood, over 2.3 billion dollars from woodwork, 1.8 billion dollars from coffee, roughly 1.5 billion dollars from rice, over 1.4 billion dollars from rubber, 300 million dollars from pepper, and 130 million dollars from tea, and nearly 1.4 billion dollars from some other farm produces.
Vietnam has eyed farm export turnovers of 13.5 billion dollars in 2008. To this end, the country will intensify production of rice, cash crops, seafood, woodwork, pork and beef.
