Village Police threaten demo for pay hike

Bangladesh Village Police Employees Union threatened to go on a demonstration to realise their demand for pay hike, reports UNB.
Some 46,870 members of the force have long been asking for their salaries and allowances in equivalence to Class-IV employees of the government.
Bangladesh Village Police Employees Union announced that they would stage demonstration form February 1 to February 28 to press home their demand.
The Union's Secretary General MA Naser at a press meet held at Nirmal Sen Auditorium of Topkhana Road in the city on Sunday said yet after doing daylong duties throughout the month, Village Police members currently draw a poor amount of Tk 3,000 as monthly salary.
He also said government has long been reluctant to paying any heed to their demand.
Acting President of the Union, Nazrul Islam said, from January 1-15 Village Police members formed human chains in respective Upazila Parishad and submitted memorandum containing their demand to Prime Minister through Upazila Nirbahi Officer.
